Grand Theft Auto in Rexburg, Idaho - Final Cut #3

Sometimes it's just hard to believe that incidences of theft would ever occur in such a small town. A town of trust and confidence that we simply leave well enough alone the belongings of others. Students of BYU-Idaho have a hard time with the news of Grand Theft Auto and burglarized vehicles in this quiet little town.

Rough Cut #3

I added the B-Roll to the existing audio cut  I did last week. I think it turned out fairly well... It's far more creative then I have done in the past.

Blog 10 - The New iPad

For those who have been able to get their hands on one of the new iPads, it has made a big hit with photographers. The greatest feature that photographers are in love with is the new retina display. To better show those portfolio pieces with greater resolution and color saturation makes for an even great first impression!

Dustin Olsen talks about the retina display and why it is his new favorite feature with his New iPad. Check it out:

Story 3 Audio Cut

When you consider your lifestyle here in Rexburg, Idaho - it can always be a bit surprising when you hear incidences of Grand Theft Auto taking place. Then to be disturbed again by 15 auto break-ins at a nearby apartment complex. But for some - these things have no effect on the casual life style many of us have become accustom to.

Volkswagen - A Sense of Belonging

People around the world love driving their Volkswagen! Do you know why? Some say you will find it in the details and some say you will feel it on the road. But no matter where you find it, driving a VW will give you a sense of belonging among the loyal VW Family Network. Here is what a few people had to say about their VWs.

Background
This inspiration came right after I bought my first VW Jetta. Unlike other cars I have bought, when I got this one I felt like I knew who all the VW owners were because they would talk about my car and show this excitement over it. Of course, everyone loves a new car, but VW owners are just different when it comes to welcoming a new owner into the fold.

If you are just getting into photography or feel a little rusty in the digital world,  and have you ever wondered what P, Av, Tv, and M modes stand for on your "really nice" camera? Watch this video demonstration and learn more! In this video I will be demonstrating with a Canon 60D on the importance of shooting with these creative modes instead of your basic automatic modes.

Rough Cut #2

In addition to the Audio Cut... I have added in more video footage, and HDR photo that was taken and I trimmed the audio and adjust the transitions to people weren't being faded out before they were done talking.

Audio Cut #2

It's undeniable the love that Volkswagon owners have for their car. When you buy one, there is an automatic induction into this automotive family. Watch the video below to hear just a few reasons of why VW is the car to drive, today.

Learning how to use your new DSLR camera can be very exciting, but very frustrating when your shots are turning out too dark or too light. When using the creative modes on your camera (P, Av, or TV), you have access to exposure compensation and that will help you adjust how light or dark your photo is without needing to worry about the other settings on your camera. Check out the video below to better understand.

Blog 7 - Fender Audio

With the release of the new 2012 Volkswagon Jetta - Fender Audio also announced that they would be the premier audio system (with optional navigation) for the car. This 2.5 minute video is a demonstration of how the navigation system works and a preview of the system. Until now, there has not been a good video demonstration of the system online. Story 1 - Final Cut

Idaho International Dance and Music Festival
Every summer, in Rexburg, Idaho, the chamber of commerce brings together one of the country's premier festivals! With dance teams from all over the world, it is a week full of talent, culture, laughs, and memories that will keep you coming back for more and more. However, there is a lot that goes into making such an event possible and Donna Benfield, Executive Director, talks about it.

About the Chamber:

I have worked with Donna and the Chamber of Commerce on the Dance Festival as the Graphic Designer for the Event and Key Photographer. There is always a lot that goes into making this event possible that a lot of people just don't know about. My idea for this story came from the fact that people should know so they can build a stronger appreciation for it when they come.

Add some soul in less than 2 minutes!
Have you ever wanted to give that extra bit light and life into your model's eyes? With this quick Photoshop demo you will be able to recreate that captivating light that simply draws you in. What the video and you'll be amazed at how quick you can be doing this too!

Rough Cut - Story 1

This is my rough cut! I have photos already that I took from the festival and I am waiting on some video clips from the gala performances that I want to include in there a couple times as well. But, getting the photos in there with audio and video transitions was probably the most time consuming part of the whole thing.

Blog 4 - Podcast

Through My Lens
Why do we take photos? The ability to capture a moment in time is readily available with the array of camera phones we all carry! We share them through Facebook, we tweet them, we email them, we print them, we cherish them. We each have a reason and mine is to share what I saw. To let you take part, in my creativity, of that moment when the shutter clicked.
We all take a part in history with what comes through our lens. What story are you going to share?

Check out this quick video!

All the photos shown in the podcast were taken by Dustin Olsen (That's me).

Story One - Sound Bite interviews

Here is the Sound bites from the interviews I did. I haven't added any blank spaces where other video will go because I don't know what I have to work with yet in that area.

Self Interview
This was my first time using the video and audio equipment. I used my green screen to record against and key out. I used the Adobe Premier Pro CS5 to make this all possible. Premier is a very secretive program. I didn't know where anything was and without video tutorials, I would have been lost forever in getting this to work out to my advantage.

If there is something I have learned about this. I would say that I learned that you should key out the background before you splice your video and audio. Take time to watch more video tutorials so that you can learn how to do better effects. Also, learning how to adjust the video output size would also be really nice to know at this point because the video quality is very poor.

While I could spend hours redoing this project, I think it will be more interesting to see a series of progressive improvement on my part.

Thanks for watching!
